I have been playing the piano since 3 or 4 years old. First lessons were at Yamaha. I'm now learning from Mrs Lillian Choo. I just obtained my Grade 8 with Distinction. It's not the first time but the last time was like... for Grade 1. 

I like classical pieces and especially those from romantic period. I love Chopin music, esp. Etude No.1 in C minor, Op.10 No.12 (Revolutionary). Ever since I watched a Japanese Show when I was a kid, I fell in love with it. The hero's older sister keeps to herself, tormented by love and everything, and always plays this. Nocturne No.2 in E flat, my neighbour has played Op.9 No.2 for years and I only learnt it 2 years ago. Fantasie Impromptu in C sharp Minor, Op.66 is one of Chopin's most famous songs. Some Russian Composers are great, though I can't remember their names. I like Beethoven, mainly because of how he managed to overcome adversity and continue to write great works. Debussy's 1^st Arabesque is a smooth flowing piece. His impressionist music draws me into another world. Yanni is one modern composer I like. Prokofiev, Schubert and others are great too.

Speaking of pop songs, I like Madonna, Alanis Morisette, Bryan Adams, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam (I only have the Spin the Black Circle album). Madonna is my all time favourite. My favourite song is Take a Bow. Rock music is great too. 

As for Chinese songs, Andy Lau is my favourite, including Faye Wong and Sammi Cheng. I buy Andy Lau's albums faithfully.

I am beginning to appreciate jazz music and I prefer classics at the moment.

I took FE2354 Music and Contemporary Music in NUS. This module really opened my ears and introduced me to all sorts of music that may be difficult for others to understand. Some you may not even think it is music. It is music written in the 20th Century. I also took FE2359 Computer Music. I had written a short piece of work using the computer and music software as my project. Another music module I took was History of Music FE2358. I learnt about Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. My lecturer is Dr Ho Chee Keong, who is also a composer.
