Shakespeare in Love

The mere title, Romeo and Ethel, The Pirate's Daughter, set the stage for the comedy. Gywneth Paltrow is beautiful as Viola, and Joseph Finnes is serious as the Bard. The costume designs are elaborate and their hair set magnificently. I thought Ben Affleck was in he movie as well, but I do not know which character he was playing. Was he playing Juliet, who later couldn't because his voice broke? Some of the funnier moments came from Queen Elizabeth, played by Judi Dench. Geoffrey Rush as the theatre owner was comical as he tried to run away from his debtors. While I am a fan of Paltrow, I do not think she deserves the Oscar Award for Best Actress in this role. I am curious about her hair, which is a long flowing mane, unrivalled only by Rapunzel. The mere bulk of it would be very difficult to tie into a bun for her to wear a boy's wig.

The Teenage Textbook Movie 1/2

I gave it 3/1/2 stars, as it was quite nostalgic. Not that I'm that old but mainly because it was a movie about teenagers and filmed in my old school. It certainly brought back memories. But just a few thoughts. How come they can drive so young? In the book, Kok Sean got his licence in U.S. What about Tom? Sissy is quite pretty and she reminds me of Wong Li-Lin. But they didn't show that she has many admirers. Miss Boon has an Artitude. Mui-Ee didn't stand out and she doesn't act like those who will get into a relationship so soon. I think I saw two of my friends acting as extras. 'Tis unfair man…. It's a bit strange that the show is set in a JC, but they never have any lessons. Also, we never get to see PJC's uniform. Maybe it costs too much.

Perfect Murder

I didn't realise the attacker she killed was another man. I just thought: How come the man became so ugly after being killed? Maybe it got something to do with the blood being drained away. I also noticed the oven timer and knew it would be connected to the murder. Also, how come the key Michael Douglas took from the dead man was not Gwyneth Paltrow's? If that's the case, how come he can get in? Where was the key, if the police can't find it too? Besides, the posh apartment's wouldn't have the same door made of the same rich material as the slump's apartment and if that 's the case, how come it looked like? Michael Douglas killed the lover, then how did he manage to get off the train in time.

Enter the Eagles 1/2

I watched this under stressed conditions. Never mind that. The voices they used were so expressionless, not befitting of Anita Yuen and the rest. The dubbing artists don't have the zest at all. The plot is quit far-fetched. Fighting in a blimp? But I like the "Do you love me" part.

The Truman Show

Wow, this is great movie. Maybe I'm slow, but I didn't understand what the thing (stage light) that dropped from the sky was until much later. I also can't believe someone would be an actor from a young age until 30 years old. Truman's buddy was in the show since 7. Will a 7 years old be able to act so convincingly and continue until 30 plus? Well, I realised the ad placements very early on and it was quite refreshing. One thing, would anyone watch him on and on the whole day? 24 hours a day? They have to sleep and word too and what's so interesting about his life that they have to sacrifice other TV programmes? Maybe I would, if I'm totally bored, but I would want to watch other programmes too. Get a life man, to those audiences. If his sweetheart hates the concept so much, why does she watch it?

Rush Hour

I think Chris Tucker is much funnier to watch than Jacky Chan. He seems to have an awful time saying his lines. The Chinese restaurant was so fake and the waitress was even more fake.

Saving Private Ryan

I admit I was one of those who laughed at the arm. I thought it was supposed to be sad and gruesome. But the way the soldier searched for it and picked it up was so funny. Another thing, I thought a lot of people died at the Normandy Beach. Then why there suddenly seemed to be so many survivors? I heard there are people who vomited after the show. But I didn't It was a normal war movie. The translator messed up everything. I can emphatise but if the man killed his buddy with a knife stabbed into the heart, then why that German didn't kill this translator? The part where the wrong Pte Ryan was told about the deaths of his brothers was funny. "My brothers are in grammar school." This is a good show. Any show that can make me cry from beginning to the end is.

There's something about Mary

I knew Matt Dillion was Cameron Diaz's real life boyfriend (but I think they just broke up). But I thought he was the geek. It was only much later that I realise he was the private eye. The part where the disabled guy tried to pick up something was too much. Why would his body shake so much like he's on estasy? (No offence here.) Also, if the super-duper detector is so sensitive, how come it can pick up Mary's conversations only and not others? Too bad I didn't see the hair gel incident but it's gross lah.
